Keep These Tacky Things Out Of The House: According To Joanna Gaines

Barn Doors
This one is a bit confusing. It looks like someone drank too much, trespassed on a farm, and stole their doors. Why else would someone wake up to a set of barn doors leading into the living room? I know that three is a hype surrounding barn doors, especially on Pinterest, but it’s really not as classy as you think.

Joanna Gaines is a chic farmhouse specialist, so I trust her when it comes to this. Believe it or not, barn doors can make your living room look a lot less tacky. According to Joe, if it’s used in a barn, it probably shouldn’t be put in your living room. If you watch Fixer-Upper, Joanna is great at picking out rustic style alternatives.barn doors

Keep These Tacky Things Out Of The House: According To Joanna Gaines

tiny rugs

Tiny Rugs
These rugs are also known as floating rugs. They kind of defeat the purpose because they are too light and small to anchor to anything really. Basically, the rule goes like this. If your furniture is on the rug, all four legs should be on it. If this isn’t your thing, the tiny rug probably isn’t for you.

You should probably buy a huge carpet, or cover your entire floor with carpet. You know what they say, go big or go home. Gaines is very strict about this rule. If only half of your coffee table is on the tiny rug, you are better off with no carpet at all. According to Jo, this can really make your home look tacky, which is why you would never see one of these in her living room.
